Embracing Spring Challenges and Joys in the San Luis Valley

Is anyone else going stir-crazy, or am I the only one bouncing off the walls? Spring in the San Luis Valley is like Mother Nature's way of keeping us on our toes with its relentless wind, warm days that trick you into thinking summer's here, and nights cold enough to make you question your life choices. Oh, and don't forget that surprise frost in mid-June just when you thought it was safe to pack away the winter gear. The heavy, wet snow is a blessing for plants but a nightmare for trees and power lines. Yet, despite these shenanigans, I absolutely adore Spring! Watching trees sprout new life, flowers bloom, and baby cows frolic is like nature's version of a blockbuster hit. It makes me want to dive headfirst into cleaning flower beds, starting seedlings, and prepping the garden, even though it's way too early to get serious about most of it. Luckily, our spare bedroom has transformed into a garden room, so at least the seedlings have a place to crash!

I've transformed a part of our house into a vibrant garden room, and it feels like Mother Nature herself has taken up residence! Imagine this: a cozy indoor/outdoor greenhouse, minus its plastic cover, like a turtle without its shell. It was originally in our second living room, but after selling some workout gear that was more for show than use, I reimagined the space. Now, it's the proud home of my Gardyn, which is still in the exciting "some assembly required" phase, and a brand-new BoomRoom from Northspore—a fantastic birthday gift from my daughter who knows I'd much rather grow mushrooms than lift weights any day!

This year, I'm confidently diving into the exciting world of soil blocking and creating my own seed starting soil using the exceptional mix from Bri at Blossom and Branch. You must check out her YouTube channel—her expertise is impressive, and she offers incredible videos on soil blocking. Watch them! I might be planting some seedlings a bit late and others a bit early, but that's the excitement of gardening! Stay tuned for my debut YouTube video, where I'll passionately explore my soil blocking journey and give you a grand tour of our charming little patch of earth. Don't miss it!

As I anticipate the end of winter, I'm reminded of the scripture in Ecclesiastes 3:1 and Genesis 8:22, which highlight the purpose and beauty in every season. Each season offers its own advantages; while winter provides rest for some, it is a peak season for others. Personally, winter is not my favorite, but this past season, I actively sought its beauty and God's promises. This is a time of transformation and stepping boldly out of my comfort zone into new territories. I've spent the last season learning and preparing for what lies ahead as I fully embrace the purpose and calling God has for me.

Trust in God's wisdom as you transition between life's seasons, allowing Him to guide you through these changes with confidence in His plan.

For me it is where flowers flourish and blessings grow!

Thank you for visiting! May God bless you in all your endeavors. Pursue your dreams and venture into unknown territories with Jesus guiding you.

With Love,

DeeAnn!
